Trappers were drawn
from the East by the call of the unbroken trail, and a possible
fortune from the beaver fur. Many managed to live well from trades.
Many more however would never be seen again. Performed with a
traditional fiddle, guitar, and harmonica reminiscent of the rustic
sound of the times.
Since my early years, as a boy growing
up in Texas, I have been captured by the beauty and power of the
mountains and the history of the lives of those who lived and
worked under the shadows of those mighty peaks. In this musical
work I hope to uncover some of the essence of that very life
that existed over 150 years ago.
This collection of mountain tunes is dedicated with love to the
colorful and hearty characters who helped to form the Great
American West, to the proud Texans who fought bravely and gave
their lives for Liberty at the Alamo, and the present-day men,
women, and children who re-live the Fur Trade Era and enjoy the
greatness of being Buckskinners.
